Our Plants

Grown locally, seed sourced native species that are strong and thrive into the future.

Carex testacea

An attractive perennial sedge with rich-green and brick-orange foliage. Best colour in full sun. This tough, versatile sedge forms a low mound of olive-green and reddish-yellow foliage that turns a rich burnt orange colour in the colder months. Bears brown flower spikes on long stems during summer.   With such a contrasting colour, this plant is a effective for mass planting or large landscaping projects. It grows best in a moist, well drained average soil and is very hardy being tolerant of both wind and frost. Also tolerant to salt-laden winds and drought, making an excellent choice for coastal plantings.
